SYNTHESIS AND DIELECTRIC PROPERTY EVALUATION OF COPPER OXIDE NANOSTRUCTUR EVALUATING THEIR ELECTROCHEMICAL POTENTIAL FOR NOVEL SYMMETRIC SUPER CAPACITOR ELECTRODE APPLICATION
Polymorphic Copper oxide (CuO) nano-materials were synthesised by surfactant-assisted wet chemical and solid- state reaction methods. The effect of the surfactants (PVP, CTAB and Igepal 210) addition and heat treatment onstructural, optical, dielectric and electrochemical properties of CuO nanomaterial was investigated and comparedwith the two preparation methods. A novel and cost-effective CuO electrode for a symmetric super capacitor wassuccessfully prepared. The maximum specific capacitance of 747 Fg −1 at 5 mVs −1was obtained for the CuOnanomaterial samples prepared using the solid state reaction method, and the competitive capacitance values werealso observed for the CuO nanomaterial samples, synthesised via the wet chemical process with varied control parameters.
