STUDIES ON PHOTOLUMINESCENCEANDTHERMOLUMINESCENCE OF Y2O3 DOPEDWITHERBIUM(III) CODOPED WITH YTTERBIUM(III) PHOSPHOR
Synthesis of Y2O3 doped with Er 3+ (1.5 mol%) and codoped with various concentrations of Yb 3+ was reported. The Photoluminescence up-conversion Emission spectra were recorded by exciting the samples through a sourceof 980 nm. The PL emission spectra exhibited two prominent peaks centred at 560 nm and 660 nm, respectivelyand were attributed to the transitions 4S3/2 4I15/2 and 4F9/2 4I15/2 of Er 3+, respectively. Thermoluminescencestudies of the samples were indicative of the formation of deeper traps with 2 nd order kinetics; therefore, materials considered may have a significant potential in the field of LED and display devices.
